Denim is kind of my BFF. Jeans, obvi, but denim shirts and dresses are absolute closet staples, everything from light chambray to a structured fabric. This season we’re seeing lots of denim on denim, raw & fringed hems, and denim paired with rustic accessories, such as a bandanas and saddle stitch bags. As casual and comfortable as denim is, simply add a few trendy accessories and a wedge or bootie, and voila – you are anything but basic.
These wedges I’m wearing are from a couple seasons ago, so I’ll link in some similar styles and colors. The bandana is from Madewell, and it may be the best $12 you spend all year. The key to the bandana is to tie it in a casual non-fuss way, and wear it with everything from T-shirts to button downs.
This bag is going to be on my shoulder all season long. It’s roomy yet not bulky, and you can wear it cross body or over the shoulder. This tone of brown is perfect with a pop of fall inspired mustard yellow. The denim dress and bag are both from J.Jill’s gorgeous October collection, in stores and online now. The dress has just enough stretch to it to keep the shape, but feels thick and structured. And it has pockets! For sizing perspective, I’m wearing a Petite Small.
