The June Collection at J.Jill is full of loose knits: airy cottons, dreamy linens and light colors perfect for the warm summer months. I was immediately drawn to this white cotton top as I’ve been gaga over the head-to-toe white look this season. The fabric is light as a feather and drapes in all the right places. Although the knit gives the top a sweater-look, it’s lighter and far more stylish than a T-shirt, making this top a perfect summer basic. I’m wearing the top with my favorite white distressed skinny jeans, minimal makeup and fuss free hair.
I met my friend and photography collaborator Leah Walker Wilson at Tiny’s No 5 in West U for scones and lattes. Tiny’s is one of my favorite spots for brunch with friends and “meetings”. (<– in “quotes” only because I love what I do so it doesn’t feel like work). Leah just returned from an incredible trip to Africa so we had a lot to catch up on, and not sure what exactly was so funny, but we ended up hysterically laughing several times during our photo shoot which makes for some pretty fun pictures!
Let me tell you a true story about Tiny’s. When we were first visiting Houston from California, we had one quick weekend to feel the city out. Without a doubt we were pleasantly surprised with all Houston had to offer and immediately picked up on the good vibe the city projects, BUT it was brunch at Tiny’s No 5 that sealed the deal for us. It was the morning we were flying back to CA and we decided to grab a quick meal before heading to the airport. It was a gorgeous spring day, blue skies (no humidity!) and the second we walked into Tiny’s we just knew….this is our kind of place. And if this is here, we know we will find our way. I always feel a heart full of gratitude when I walk in because we are so happy to be here!
And now let me show you THE shoe of summer: this flat espadrille. The pop of pink color is more versatile than you’d think: it works with both my head-to-toe white outfit and the sandy linen color. The shoe runs a bit small, but I stuck with my usual size and within one wear they fit perfectly. I love a good flat, especially since I spend so much of my day chasing after two active little boys!
This Pure Jill Linen Kimono top is my second pick from the June collection. I absolutely love the oversized shape and the see-through fabric. It’s equal parts casual and dressy depending on how you style it. I like wearing a bright white cami underneath so you can see the shape. I also like to wear oversized tops with fitted bottoms so I don’t disappear under the fabric.
The kimono top accessorizes well and makes it very versatile. I’ve already worn it a few different ways. Here I’m wearing it with a white cami, distressed white skinny jeans and espadrilles. The other evening I wore it to a Girls Night Out event last week styled with distressed light blue denim, turquoise heels and a statement earring. It went from brunch casual to evening stylish with just a few accessory changes.
Thanks to J.Jill for these gorgeous items and to Tiny’s No 5 for the perfect setting. Shop the look!
