I’m talking about the color, not the song! What fits better with the sky & sea than a soft blue mix & match wardrobe. Although I do love a pop of color, this summer I’ve been chambray-heavy and wearing many of these items on repeat, but before I get to the clothing, I want to share this delicious and fun summer cocktail recipe with you, that I coincidentally and affectionally named the True Blue.
I attended a craft-cocktail class with the head bartender from Harold’s (a fantastic restaurant in the Houston Heights) and learn a thing or two about how to create a drink with equal parts sweet and bitter. I fell in love with the violet bitters, and maybe went a little wild, because my creation looked like Windex for a while (haha!), but I was able to add in some other ingredients and garnishes to give it the final fun look AND taste. Try it at home!
1) First up, this fantastic sleeveless denim top. It’s so versatile and has just the tiiinnniiiiest bit of edge to it. I like to tie the front panels for a casual vibe and pair it with white linen or a pleated skirt. In both cases, I’m wearing my go-to shoes of the summer, the espadrille.
2) Next, a denim shirt dress with a bandana pattern. It’s easy breezy, and because of the volume of the skirt, I recommend a cross body to weigh it down a bit, and a statement earring for balance. These are my FAVORITES from Alejandra Aspillaga. They are so incredibly lightweight that you forget you’re wearing them until you start receiving the sweetest compliments!
3) Rounding it out with a t-shirt maxi dress that has POCKETS! I love this with flat sandals or even sneakers. It’s easy, comfortable, and stylish.
4) OK, I lie, one more – and I have to say it maaaaay be my favorite of the bunch. This tencel maxi dress is silky soft, and pops directly into the washer & dryer without any fuss.
