I love Sundays for so many reasons, but especially in the winter. It’s just the perfect reason to cuddle up when it’s a little cold and gray outside. We get to wake up at our own pace, enjoy long breakfasts, spend time in church with my family, and put big pots of soup on the stove in the afternoon. Oh, and run errands! I try all week to tidy up our to-do lists so that we can enjoy the weekend outside of a store, but without fail every Sunday I realize I need to pick something up for our week. Today it was brown lunch bags for my kiddo’s snack at school. I already sent them on Friday with their snack in a gallon size Ziploc – – – can’t do that again!
This easy peasy, on trend and comfortable look is all from J.Jill and has been on repeat over the last few weeks. I’m wearing a plaid button over a light brown skinny corduroy. The pants are as comfy as leggings but look much more “dressed”. I’m topping this off with a down puffer vest. It keeps me warm and looks cute at the same time. My boots are the Paige tall riding boot from Frye, a classic staple, and I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I’ve been wearing this very pair non stop for almost eight years.
The plaid shirt is double-cloth and so warm. The underside is a smaller check so it looks layered when I cuff up the sleeves.
This side braid is one of my go-to looks. It’s more interesting than a boring pony tail (although I wear plenty of those!) and adds a youthful vibe. The best part is that I can braid my hair when it’s still wet so it saves time. I add product to my roots (my current favorite is the Texas Tea volumizing spray from Drybar), and blow dry using a round brush about halfway dry. I then part my hair and french-braid down the heavy side, which is my right. I braid all the way to the end of the hair and secure with a small rubber band. I then smooth the rest of my hair into a low pony and pull it all, including the braid into a bun. The trick is to not over think it! Usually your first braid is going to be your best braid, so don’t get frustrated and flustered trying to make it perfect. The slight messiness of the braid adds to the look!
So that’s my Sunday Style (and Monday, and Tuesday…you get the picture!). What’s yours?
