It’s snowing in Chicago! I don’t live there anymore, but I’m nostalgic for the magic of the first snow of the season. It’s clean and fluffy and the cold is exciting and invigorating. Now flash forward to February when you’re riding the EL through bitter cold and hard packed gray snow…not so magical…BUT, the first snow? Ahhhh, makes me homesick. Houston, however, has been rocking postcard weather this past week. Sunny blue skies, low 70s, no humidity. A “cold front” came though and gave us some brisk 60 degree weather, so naturally the coats, boots (and even first furs!) came out to celebrate.
I, however, am perfectly content if the warmest coat I wear this season is this warm but lightweight Berkshires coat from J.Jill. It comes in three colors: black, neutral “beechwood” and a gorgeous teal called “peacock”. I like them all, but I think the camel and black look is clean, chic, and super versatile. The jacket is not fitted, so I like the look of a narrow leather legging. For size reference, I’m wearing a Petite Small and easily could use a size down to XS, especially if you’re not doing a lot of layering under the jacket. PS: my go-to booties are on big time sale right now, snatch them up!
These Clubmaster Ray Bans are cool all year. I’m grateful to my friend and photographer Rocio for loaning me hers while shooting on this sunny day. Shopping for a new winter coat? Here are my top picks, including the Berkshires coat from J.Jill, in a range of styles from puffy coat to fur to feminine.
Thanks to the incredible team at J.Jill and to Rocio Carlon Studios for these great pictures and loaning me her sunnies!
