Can you handle it? I know, I pretty much squealed with joy when I opened the email with the proof of our new family portrait.
This modern family portrait is a graphic drawing custom made by kadie of HenryJamesPaperGoods. The artist, kadie, is a mom to two little boys and lives in the same St. Louis neighborhood that we lived in a few years ago, so I feel an instant kinship to her. kadie started creating these custom portraits two years ago when she shifted careers from corporate office to freelance. Her first portrait was for a friend, and once the design hit Etsy, it took off. She’s been featured on Cool Mom Picks (which is where I heard about her), Babble, and Houzz. Here’s to creative mamas making it happen! WOOHOO!
The process to have your own custom portrait created is simple. First, visit kadie’s shop on Etsy and choose the base package for a custom family. Prices start at $80 for an 8×10 custom family of two, each additional human is $30, pets $20, and babies swaddled in arms $20. You can upgrade the size to 11×14 for $10 or 12×18 for $15. You can include pets, special toys, custom backgrounds, basically, any idea you have, kadie is happy to explore with you and make your family portrait as special and unique as your family.
After your order is placed on Etsy, you’ll email kadie a number full-face photos, details for each individual including height, favorite color and clothing preferences. You can send her direct links to specific outfits, or just give a general style description and kadie will choose for you. Now for the hardest part: waiting a few weeks while the magic happens, but I promise, it’s worth it for this incredibly modern, unique, and creative family portrait.
What a way to freeze time – every time I look at this I’ll think about how Graham insists a dinosaur is on every piece of clothing, how Bennett’s favorite color is green, how my husband keeps getting more handsome with age, and how my life is best when I’m holding a little boy’s hand. *grateful*
