Although I generally feel great, eat well, exercise daily, and take good care of my skin, I’m still THIRTY-EIGHT and it’s time to explore skin care products that offer anti-aging benefits. I’ve heard so much about the powerful skin repair and regeneration benefits of serums lately – is it a coincidence or a sign?! – so I decided to add this extra step to my routine. Serums are the step between cleansing and lotion (or after toner) and it barely adds thirty seconds. Totally doable and worth the extra step since I can see and feel a difference after just a few weeks of introducing serums to my lineup. Here are a few that I’ve recently tried and loved.
1) Clarins Double Serum. $85 for 1 fl. oz. pump bottle. Ideal to use twice a day in your morning and night routine. The scent of the Clarins serum is positively dreamy – fresh and clean – and the translucent golden color just looks radiant and healthy. This award-winning serum applies smoothly and sinks in after about thirty seconds. I see mineral oil as one of the first ingredients, so hope a future formula can be modified a bit and it could easily be my favorite of the bunch!
2) Arbonne Intensive Renewal Serum. $58 for 1 fl. oz. pump bottle. Ideal to use twice a day in your morning and night routine. The serum is from Arbonne’s top selling anti-aging RE9 line. The scent is bright and citrusy, and the white serum feels very soft and absorbs quickly without any oily or greasy feeling. I’ve written about some of my favorite Arbonne products before, and we can now add the mineral oil free Serum to the list.
3) Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. $62 for 1 fl. oz. dropper bottle. As the name suggests, this is for nighttime use, and I couldn’t wait to try it since it is touted as a miracle worker from most online reviews. This serum is a translucent light beige color and practically unscented. The serum feels very light, spreads across my skin easily, and does not contain mineral oil. I received a bottle of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and the Clarins Double Serum from an event I attended hosted by my talented friend Magen Pastor at Macy’s.
4) Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. $46 for 1 fl. oz. dropper bottle. This nighttime formula is a clear, thin serum with a heavy (and heavenly) botanical scent. As are all Kiehl’s products, the Midnight Recovery Concentrate is free of mineral oil. I’ve always been a big fan of Kiehl’s apothacary style products, and this, along with the coordinating eye cream, are at the top of my list.
So back to you – do you use serum in your skin care routine? What brand is your favorite, and why?
