Ahhhh, ‘Tis the Season for craziness and stress! It seems everyone has too many to-dos on their never ending list: parties to attend, cookies to bake, and cards to address. It’s no fun to barrel through this season which is supposed to be, as the song goes, the most wonderful time of the year. So how can we enjoy this time without all the stress? Here’s a few ideas for you, as well as TWO opportunities for giveaways, so be sure to scroll all the way down.
1. Set a timeline and a budget.
These two go together like PB & J. The best way to stay on budget is to plan ahead, look for sales, and take advantage of all of the holiday specials. As time goes on, and the holidays become closer, it’s easy to just “grab anything” when it’s convenient and not when it’s at the best possible price! It’s the same idea for me why I often use grocery store delivery services. Although I pay a fee to have them delivered, I’m not making in-the-aisle decisions and filling up my cart and my refrigerator with items we don’t need. If I PLAN ahead, I get exactly what I need. I’m also a big proponent of less is more when it comes to gifts. Something simple and personal is always the better way to go. And think outside the wrapping paper: consider donations to charity, subscriptions to museums, and other experiences that will bring joy and last well beyond this particular holiday season.
2. Shop online.
This goes hand in hand with our PB & J up there, just to stick to one analogy. Consider this the apple slices on the side. There are SO many codes for incredible online sales and free shipping that there is no reason to leave the house and fight the parking lots and crowds. Macy’s is currently extending their Green Monday sales (and offering free shipping at $49+), Williams-Sonoma has a handy guide of when you have to order by to receive your gifts in time (and a sale on cookware!), and Nordstrom makes it easy as pie with fantastic gift guides.
Yes, FLOAT! I recently tried my very first float at the brand new MIZU Integrative Medicine Clinic + Float Center in Houston and I’m hooked. Floatation Therapy, also known as Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST), has been shown, through clinical research, as a means to inducing deep relaxation, promoting meditation, reducing stress hormone levels, relieving joint and muscle pain, and reducing blood pressure. You float in a pod, resembling a sleek, futuristic spaceship, that is filled with a highly saturated solution of magnesium sulfate salt and water, causing the body to naturally float and the musculoskeletal systems to decompress, relax and stop fighting gravity. My biggest concern was that it would be claustrophobic, but the pods are roomy and you can easily change the lighting and sound within your own pod to create your perfect experience. Another concern I had was “am I too wound up to enjoy this” – I don’t know about you, but I have the bad habit of making lists in my head whenever I’m getting a massage. NOT relaxing! This float was on the contrary, though. I was extremely present, in almost a meditative space. My mind did wander, but not in an anxious way.
It’s more than just a quick dip in the pod, however: MIZU offers three private suites, and each includes a state-of-the-art floatation pod, a shower and a changing room, ensuring all patients have a secluded, luxurious experience. It truly felt like a trip to the spa, but with longer lasting results. After my float, I enjoyed some of MIZU’s custom tea in their beautiful and modern lobby area before I was on my way. I couldn’t believe how soft my hair and skin felt. A gift card for a float would be a really fabulous way to treat someone you love!
Doesn’t this sound amazing? To make it even better – if you are in the HOUSTON area (MUST BE IN HOUSTON), I’m giving away TWO spots to a float with me. Well, we’ll all be in our own separate pods, haha, but three of us will float at the same time and enjoy a little tea party afterwards.
So how to enter? Head over to my Instagram, make sure you are following me AND MIZU Integrative Medicine Clinic + Float Center (we’ll check) and leave a comment on my picture of the custom Mizu teas letting me know you’d love to try it out. I’ll be choosing two random winners on Friday, December 16th to join me for little float party of sorts at a future date TBD, but soon! Please read through the FAQs BEFORE entering as there is some very important information to be sure you are a great fit for a float. That’s it, GOOD LUCK!
And for those of you who are NOT in Houston so not able to enter the giveaway above, I have something special for you, too! This $1,000 Target giveaway is still going strong and it is just in time for the holidays!
