Space Scouts is monthly subscription box that is truly out of this world! The boys recently tried out a month and had a great time learning about the wonders of the universe. With Space Scouts, two cute Jetson-esque characters named Roxy and Jett are the hosts. Your kiddos follow them on an adventure through the solar system and gain knowledge of the night sky.
Designed for ages 6+, the starter month package includes a very cool metal lunch box to hold all of your treasures, especially the monthly magnet you’ll receive. You also get a big map to hang on your wall and keep track of all your adventures, and a ringed constellation card collection. Then, each month you’ll receive a scout plan, a magnet to add to your lunchbox, a sticker for the poster, several activity pages, a sticker scramble, a card for your constellation collection and a souvenier toy. YES! All of that is included in each month – it’s incredible.
We did a few of the projects right away, and most are perfect for both of my boys’ ages. We instantly hung up our map and worked on the sticker scrambles – so simple and cute. The boys loved playing with the grabber arm toy and the little astronaut figures. We saved the worksheets for a slow morning and worked on those together a few days later. The worksheets are more advanced, but little brother was happy to look over Bennett’s shoulder and watch the word scramble unfold. All of the activities are really well designed with bright colors and have easy to follow instructions. The curriculum taps into children’s natural interest in science and technology and makes the learning fun and exciting.
The education continues on social media and through their newsletter. Space Scouts knows the importance of engaging parents in STEM discussions with their children, so be sure to follow Space Scouts on Facebook and Twitter for tips and topics to engage your kids in discussions about space exploration and astronomy with themes like “Get your family talking about the night sky!” and “You can be an astronaut too!”
Space Scouts makes a perfect holiday gift – instead of receiving one present, a child will receive ongoing monthly packages of exciting projects and educational fun. Based on so many other monthly project boxes we’ve tried, I think Space Scouts is a tremendous value for a ton of activities. A monthly subscription is $11.95 (plus $3 shipping), and a 3 month subscription is only $36 (plus $9 shipping). The savings go up from there depending on the length of your subscription.
Thanks so much to Space Scouts for letting us try out your program. We had a great time and can’t wait to see what’s up next!
