We are big fans of subscription craft boxes, and when I saw the new TogetherBox I knew we wanted to try it out. We love to do projects together and enjoy receiving themed boxes full of supplies and instructions for family fun. I was especially interested in the TogetherBox when I learned how it was started by two busy dads who want to help make quality time with their young children easy at the end of a busy day. How much do we love our hands-on dads?
I also just love the name of TogetherBox and was instantly drawn to the concept. My boys took to it as well, announcing that “it’s full of crafts to do together, mama”. And they are right. TogetherBox comes with enough supplies for up to five people to participate, even if that means taking turns. The guys over at TogetherBox sent Bennett and Graham a test box for us to try out, and boy did we have fun. The theme of our box was glow in the dark – do I need to say more?
The first project the boys did (while still in jammies mere moments after Graham opened the box) was decorate a tiny t-shirt for stuffed animal with glow in the dark puffy paints. The box came with one t-shirt and two bottles of paint – perfect for them each to choose a color and work on together. They cooperated so well and spent a good twenty minutes designing a new shirt for our beloved giraffe, Lego.
Now doesn’t Lego look handsome? He’s a little camera shy.
We received our box just as we were getting ready to move into our new house, so we decided to hold on to a few of the projects for some entertainment while we were in the middle of unpacking boxes. Boy was that a good idea! One of the projects was a bowling game with a large inflatable glow in the dark ball and some plastic cups. It was so lightweight and easy to set up, yet it provided hours of fun and entertainment for the boys in the middle of the move.
Another activity was a good old fashioned ring toss which also used the plastic cups along with glow sticks strung together into rings. We used three glow sticks to make Graham’s rings larger and a little easier for him to snag a cup. What a great way to encourage hand-eye coordination! The boys can play bowling game together, and we set them up facing each other each with a few of their own cups for ring toss. One reason why I love the TogetherBox is the projects are not all one-and-done, in fact our plastic cups and inflatable ball bowling kit are played with daily and the boys still enjoy it even though the glow magic has since worn off.
We also saved the last project, the star constellation, for our new walls in our new home. The instructions showed us a few different patters we could put on the bedroom walls, but instead of the Little Dipper, Bennett had an idea to make a rainbow of stars above his bed. He enjoys having something special in his new bedroom and watching the rainbow light up after we turn out the lights at bedtime.
Thanks so much to TogetherBox for our Glow box. We had a great time and look forward to seeing what’s next from these fun dads, and you can, too!
