Rachel Teichman, the writer, baker, designer extraordinaire known for her work with Red Tricycle, OOGIAH and Scrumpt is at it again. Her new company, LAINIE LINE, features jewelry, art, apparel and party favors all designed to lighten and brighten your day.
Started in 2014, Rachel named her company after her two children, Nina and Eli. As they traveled through Europe, Rachel was inspired by design examples that she worked into the jewelry pieces. One of her favorite pieces is the LINA earrings and necklace set. Rachel found a vintage charm that matched her logo, and had it cast in brass to make it new and modern. The earrings and necklace look great as a matching set on their own as a statement piece.
And Rachel’s children’s birthday parties inspired the line of candy favors. The city-themed candy favors are one of Rachel’s favorites as they combine travel, lip balm and candy together in an original way. Another favorite are the new bubblegum favor tubes. The tubes of four 1″ bubblegum balls make such a simple and useful shower or birthday party favor.
The jewelry and favors are all handmade in Texas. While none of the products are Texas “big” in size, they are big in their effect on an outfit or event. “I think the confluence of design and sweets (such as the sugarcube inspired necklace or candy favors) is a very Houston thing these days,” says Rachel.
What does Rachel have to say to the budding mompreneur? “Just start! You want to sell jewelry? Go make some! You want to sell cookies? Go bake some! Today is always a day when you can get started on some stage of your business or idea”. Thanks for the boost, Rachel – you set such a great example!
