Our girls trip to Austin was such an incredible getaway, and we enjoyed every minute together, from the road trip there and back, to the late night giggles, to this gorgeous photo shoot on the Four Seasons Austin property.
It all started with a GMC Denali Acadia. When we were asked where we would want to go for a getaway, Austin was the top choice. It’s an easy and pretty drive from Houston and completely do-able if you have just a couple of days to get out of town. I did most of the driving on the trip, mostly because I’m a control freak, but also because I loved driving this new SUV. It’s a little bigger than my SUV and I like the bucket seats and cool safety features like blind spot warnings and how your speed limit is projected onto the windshield.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Austin and the location is ideal for exploring Austin. It is right in the heart of downtown, walking distance (or a short pedi-cab) to South Congress, the ACL stage, and just a short drive away from Barton Springs, all of which were on our to-do list. Once you exit out the back of the Four Seasons Austin, you completely forget that you’re in the heart of downtown: it’s a lush tree-filled resort right on the Brazos River with a shaded walking & running path. The best of both city & nature worlds all in one location.
My Austin style here is pretty simple: a comfortable and cool oversized lightweight gray sweater, leggings, open toe booties, and this fab bag I’m borrowing from Julie. The top is from the Houston Heights boutique Emerson Rose, a great shop with hip clothing ranging from boho dresses to state love t-shirts.
I like a style that takes you from point to point without having to change it up too much, and this look easily can take you from day time shopping and lunching to a nice evening dinner. While in Austin, we had the most incredible dinner at Sway. WoW.
As a vegetarian, I had no problem whatsoever choosing more than enough from the Thai menu. My favorite items were the squash curry and the po-pea jay appetizer. The curry was sweet and spicy, just how I like it!
Yes, it’s true, I’m wearing this oversized gray top with leggings (gasp! As pants!) and my most favorite open toe booties. When the weather cools down I’ll wear leather leggings, but it’s just too hot still in Texas! Plus, the top was long enough to cover my bottom.
One more time I want to give big thanks to Emerson Rose, Four Seasons Austin, GMC, Sway, and Chelsea Laine Francis for capturing our fun. Be sure to check out my other posts about our Girls Getaway here, here and here, and do not miss Julie or Megan‘s posts for more style and fun. I love these two with all my heart!
