I love photography and I love my boys, so naturally my walls are filled with photos of them. The first time we had professional pictures taken of Bennett was in Chicago when he was only nine months old by Mark Brown Photography. I had met Mark a few years earlier while we were both volunteers at Make-a-Wish. We became instant friends – he is so fun and hilarious and has such a huge heart, it’s impossible not to immediately want to be around him 24/7. After visiting his studio and seeing his work featured with Make-a-Wish, I knew once I had kids that he would be our family’s photographer. The combo of being a stellar photographer AND an amazing person has made him highly sought after. He has clients all over the country who request to work with just him, especially in New York City and Los Angeles. We are lucky to count ourselves among the families that have been photographed by Mark.
What sets him apart from other photographers? Without a doubt it is how genuine he is with children. My kids know the difference when they are being cajoled into “smiling” and they know when someone is genuinely interested in making them laugh. Mark makes everyone feel comfortable and at ease, and before you know it, everyone is laughing and having a great time. Meanwhile, Mark is capturing authentic moments: smiles and sweet looks between parents and children.
The results? They are not just cute pics – these are artwork. Mark has an incredible eye for which photographs go well together, and he takes some of his favorite shots and arranges them into sets for the review session. He can help you design gallery walls and full-scale installations. The cost is not inexpensive; however this is an investment. The end product you receive is printed on the highest quality paper and custom framed ready to hang.
I love every single photograph from our session, but my favorite is one of Bennett and me cheek to cheek. My mom tells me that when I was a little girl I always asked her to hold me “cheek-cheek” and I have to say, holding my boys to my cheek brings on such deep, viceral feelings of love. That sweet, soft little baby cheek, oh gosh, I’m getting teary just thinking about it. I treasure this picture beyond words. I have a gallery wall in our hallway and I pause every time I walk though to look at his bright eyes and gummy smile, at his little chubby fingers on my necklace. I wonder how it is possible that this baby is now bossing me around and demanding a new app on the iPad. And I’m immediately grateful that this amazing moment was captured.
Check out Mark’s website to see more amazing examples of his family and landscape photography, and then quick, book a session with him! You will be so grateful for the lifelong treasure he creates for you.
