Welcome to my home! We’ve been working on furnishing our beautiful home for two years now. We built it from the ground up, selecting every finish from the door handles to the wood floors, so it’s a labor of love, and we’re taking our time to furnish it to make sure we get it right! It’s quite a project, but overall, I do enjoy the process very much, especially when it comes to artwork.
This is one of the most visible rooms in our home: the half bath, or powder room right off the kitchen. This is the room where our guests use when they are over, and it’s also the #1 place where the boys wash their hands before meals. Since it’s our powder room, we wanted to have a little fun with the design, so we had a custom open-cabinet built with a raised sink bowl over a modern and clean white quartz countertop. The window covering is a roman shade from Smith & Noble. It gets a lot of use, and even though it’s a small and useful room, it was pretty blah until I found these art prints from Minted’s collection of limited edition artwork. I mixed & matched these prints from three different artists, although they all compliment each other so well.
The colors in the artwork blend well with our entire home: cooling blues, and pops of pink, not unlike a gorgeous sunset! The image on the sink with pink and blue hydrangea images is called Flutter Watercolor and was the inspiration for this combination of art. I fell in love with the pinks and blues, a touch of light brown. The feeling was light and bright and interesting all in one. Below on the wall, framed in black is called Morning River and can be printed and framed as large as 54″x40″ in a variety of frames, and I almost did a huge version of this instead for my office. It is soooo gorgeous and has beautiful movement and layers to it. The third print is called Blue Leaves and is in a black frame and perfectly ties them all together. Oh, and then I found hydrangeas that literally matched exactly! How could I resist?
I played around with the placement a little bit. I love that the prints coordinate with each other, and I also love that they are a bit mix & matchy. I purposely did two in black frames and one in white for a little pop. At first I had one print propped up on the backsplash, but changed my mind and moved one to the opposite wall (you can see it in the reflection!). I was afraid the kids would splash it too much when washing their hands, and plus, the other wall was feeling lonely.
I’m in love – what do you think? Have you checked out Minted’s limited edition artwork? It is an inspiring, modern & affordable way to bring real artists’ work into your home. Check it out and let me know what you find – – – I have many more walls to cover!
